Obituary for Gregory Nile Kenyon

Gregory Nile Kenyon was born March 2, 1950, to Leland and Rea (Marlow) Kenyon in Manning, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm West of Guthrie Center, graduating from Guthrie Center High School with the Class of 1968.

He began his life work of construction, eventually forming Kenyon Construction. For the past 35 years, he was a general contractor and built Casey’s General Stores all over the Midwest. Over the years, Greg purchased farm ground as farming was his true passion. About 24 years ago he started raising elk and Twin Oaks Elk Farm was started.

Greg was married to his best friend, Floy. Together they raised three children, Aaron, Angie, and Michael. Twenty-three years ago, Greg and Floy built the home of their dreams. Greg promptly filled it with animal mounts from his numerous hunts.

Greg was the President of the Iowa Elk Breeders Association, past board member of the North American Elk Breeders Association and a proud member of the NRA.

Greg passed from this life surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at the home he loved at the age of 69 years, 10 months.

Left to mourn his memory are his wife, Floy; children, Aaron (Rachel) Kenyon of Coon Rapids, Angie (Brian) McAlister of Coon Rapids, and Michael (Andrea) Kenyon of Guthrie Center; grandchildren, Jared, Conner & Logan Kenyon of Coon Rapids, Derek (Beth) Betts of Guthrie Center, Isaac, Cora & Eli McAlister of Coon Rapids, Alyssa (Zach) McMillen of Urbandale, Kaitlyn (Zane) & Zander Kenyon of Guthrie Center and Trinity Stonehocker of Guthrie Center; great-grandchildren Cami Betts and Sawyer McMillen. Sisters Beatrice (Dennis) Sheeder of Guthrie Center, Sherri, and nephew Quinn. Sisters-in-law Kathy Burgin of Harrisonville, MO and Peggy (Jim) Harrison of La Monte, MO. Several nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved dogs.

Preceding him in death were his parents Leland and Rea Kenyon, parents-in-law Jarvis and Nancy Sedgwick, brother Robert Kenyon, sister-in-law Nancee Kenyon, a brother Richard in infancy, nephews Glenn Evans and Scott Kenyon.
