Obituary for Terry Wayne Moore

Terry Wayne Moore, 57, youngest son of Robert & Karen Moore, was born October 3, 1961 in Perry, Iowa. He passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at the EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.
Terry’s early years were spent outside of Linden on a 40 acre farm moving to Panora during his high school years. While attending Panora-Linden High School, he enjoyed competing in athletics, graduating in 1980.
Terry continued to enjoy all sports and outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, and shooting a round of golf. His competitive nature served him well as a driving force behind his success in life endeavors, especially family and employment. Terry’s compassion and helping hand will be missed by family and friends.
Upon completing basic training at Fort Jackson in 1980, Terry served 6 years in the United States Army Reserves as a Patch Panel operator than an automotive and tank mechanic finishing his service in Perry, Iowa.
Working for Retzel Pipeline took him on the road in 1981 to Fremont, NE, where he met his soulmate, Robin Porter. They were married February 12, 1983 and were blessed with three sons, Justin Wayne, Bradley Allen, and Bryan Lange.
Terry went to work for Brad’s Electric in Fremont and after four years as an apprenticeship, successfully passed the State Board Exams to become a licensed electrician in 1989. Soon after Terry moved his family to Panora, and he went to work for R & R Electric in Panora. He joined Norwood Electric in 1998. The last 2 years at Norwood, Terry led in a management position on a complex electrical installation during the construction of Louis Dreyfus Company Ethanol Plant in Grand Junction. To the credit of the management team at “LDC”, they hired Terry to lead their maintenance department team in 2011, as their maintenance Supervisor until his illness forced him to leave his position.
Terry’s greatest joy in life was spending quality time with his entire extended family, his children and their spouses, and he loved all his grandchildren dearly.
He and Robin enjoyed fishing and whoever caught the biggest fish had bragging rights til the next time.
Terry taught his sons the value of integrity and hard work and was always there to fix toys when they were younger and years later when those toys became broken vehicles their father could be counted on for expert repair.
Terry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Robin; sons, Justin (Lisa); Bradley (Nancy); and Bryan (Ashley); eight grandchildren, Lanie, Meyah, Westin, and Gavin (Daily); Brody and Logan; Evelyn and Sloan. Brother, Mike (Denise); grandmother, Louise Bullard; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger & Hazel Porter; mother-in-law, Ruth Porter; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by is parents, grandparents, and father-in-law.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Panora First Christian Church with family burial of his cremains held prior to the services at the Monteith Cemetery, rural Guthrie Center. A luncheon will be served following the services.  Visitation will be the Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 5-7 P.M. at the Twigg Funeral Home, Panora.
