Obituary for Steven Ray Steensen

In the loving arms of his family, Steven Ray Steensen, 64, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019.  Steve was born to Norman and Marion Steensen on July 21, 1955.  He attended preparatory school in Guthrie Center and later graduated from DMACC.
Steve married his best friend, Merle Anne (Merryman), on September 27, 1975 and they lived their entire married life of 44 years in Guthrie Center.  They were blessed with two children, Jennifer Sue and Ian Michael.  In 2014 Ian married Tiffany Sue (Baier), and in 2018 the light of Steve’s life, his granddaughter, Bria Sue was born.   In 1975 Steve joined his father and his brother at Steensen Gas and Electric and operated the store until its sale in 2001.  During the last year of operating the store, Steve earned his Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Certification.  Steve was very proud to have earned this certification.  Steve was then able to work for Brubaker Computer Service which was later sold to Craig Little, BCS. Steve retired from BCS in 2010.When Steve was in high school, he belonged to a band named MALE, which included members Doug “Cub” Rutherford, Bob Rosenbeck, Kile Jackson, and Jim “Hazz” Hasbrook.  They played in basements and for local dances and finally for bridal fairs until they went off to college.Steve loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle but sold it to take flying lessons.  Steve earned his pilot’s license and when he could no longer fly a plane due to medical reasons, he purchased a Porsche.  His daughter Jennifer loved riding in the Porsche and telling her dad – go faster, go faster.  When his son Ian told his dad he could drive the Porsche to school, the Porsche was sold shortly after.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Merle Anne, son Ian (Tiffany) Steensen, and granddaughter Bria Sue of Guthrie Center.  He is also survived by his sister Susan (Ken) Kiesau of Neenah, WI, brother-in-law Neil (Barb) Merryman of Urbandale, IA, and many nieces and nephews. Waiting for him in heaven is his darling daughter Jennifer Sue, his father Norman and mother Marion, father-in-law Howard Merryman, mother-in-law Betty Merryman, and brother Sam Steensen.
